CONTINUING EDUCATION:
  Requirements: Every chiropractor shall complete at least 40 continuing education credit hours in approved continuing education programs during each 2 year license registration period ending December 14 of each even-numbered year, except as specified in s. Chir 3.02 (1) (c). Every chiropractor must maintain current CPR certification during the registration period.

CONDITIONS FOR RECIPROCITY/ENDORSEMENT: No reciprocity with other states. Endorsement candidates must have been licensed 3 out of last 5 years (minimum of 24 hours per week), and must hold a valid chiropractic license from another state. Must have NBCE Parts I & II, Part III (WCCE) or SPEC, and must have passed a practical exam including physical diagnosis, adjusting technique and x-ray interpretation, or Part IV.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  Min. # years pre-professional education required for licensure: A 4-year BA or BS degree from accredited institution is required.    
  Accreditation for Chiropractic Programs/Institutions: Council on Chiropractic Education and approved by the WI Board.
         
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATES OF FOREIGN COLLEGES: Reviewed on a case-by-case basis. (College & transcript must be approved through CCE, pass National Boards I, II, III, & IV, Board review of credentials prior to qualifications.)
         
SUMMARY OF SCOPE OF PRACTICE:

The practice of chiropractic is the application of chiropractic science in the adjustment of the spinal column, skeletal, articulations and adjacent tissue which includes diagnosis and analysis to determine the existence of spinal subluxations and associated nerve energy expression and the use of procedures and instruments preparatory and complimentary to treatment of the spinal column, skeletal articulations and adjacent tissue. Diagnosis and analysis may include physical examination, specimen analysis, drawing of blood, blood analysis and the use of X-ray and other instruments. Treatment with or prescribing of drugs, surgery or invasive procedures, acupuncture, prohibited.
         
OTHER REFERENCE INFORMATION:
 

 Other licensure requirements:  As of 9/1/2008, all applicants are required to be proficient in the use of automated external defibrillators (AED's) as a qualification for licensure.  Qualifed AED training is offered only as a component of DHS approved CPR certification programs. Contact board for specific information.
Board regulates specialty council certification: No
Board permits or authorizes travel-to-treat requirements: S.Chiro 3.035 Temporary Chiropractic Permits (fee, application, verification of license in good standing and no pending disciplinary action.) Practice limited to athletic or artistic event, or instructor in chiropractic education seminar approved for CE by board. Valid for 10 calendar days within 12 month period following effective date, but no single period of practice shall exceed 3 calendar days. Board to be informed in writing prior to event of locations and dates for practice under permit. Not to be used for relief services or practice coverage for chiropractors licensed in Wisconsin. Permits have specific disclosure language as prescribed by this regulation.
