CONTINUING EDUCATION:
  Requirements: All licensees will annually attend and complete sixteen (16) hours of approved continuing education. The continuing education may be completed at any course or seminar elected by the licensee that is approved by the board. Only those topics listed as authorized procedures in §73.7 of the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners rules relating to authorized practices, techniques and procedures shall be acceptable in these courses or seminars.
Distance Credits Allowed: No more than 6 hours of 16 total CE hours required per year.
Program Criteria: Board approves all sponsors and courses. Courses are sponsored by state or national chiropractic associations and CCE approved colleges. Contact Board for details and application.
Board accepts the uniform continuing education form: No
Board requires sexual boundaries training:

Board requires AIDS awareness / risk prevention training: Not required
Other special areas of specific CE training required: 4 hours of CE that must consist of (1) 2 hours in ethics; (2) 1 hour in risk management; and (3) 1 hour in documentation coding.
         
CONDITIONS FOR RECIPROCITY/ENDORSEMENT: The applicant must: ( a ) have successfully completed Parts I, II, III, IV and Physiotherapy of the National Boards, ( b ) have completed and passed with a “C” or better, 90 or more hours of undergraduate education other than chiropractic college, ( c ) have graduated from a CCE approved chiropractic college, and ( d ) have been licensed for a period of three (3) years or more in another state that meets the criteria of § 79.1 (a)(1). Applicants who meet the criteria above should submit the Out-Of-State application to the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners following the instructions on the application.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  Min. # years pre-professional education required for licensure: 90 hours - No requirement for 4-year degree planned.     
  Accreditation for Chiropractic Programs/Institutions: Council on Chiropractic Education ─ Fully accredited; SCASA Schools are currently not approved by the Board.
         
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATES OF FOREIGN COLLEGES: Undergraduate transcript must be approved by the University of Texas at Austin.  The Board recognizes graduates of chiropractic programs that are accredited by any member of CCE-International.  Contact board for specific information.
         
SUMMARY OF SCOPE OF PRACTICE:

Any person shall be regarded as practicing chiropractic within the meaning of this Act who shall employ objective or subjective means without the use of drugs, surgery, X-ray therapy, or radium therapy, to analyze, examine or evaluate the biomechanical condition of the spine and musculoskeletal system of the human body, and uses adjustment, manipulation or other procedures in order to improve subluxations or the biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system, and charge therefore, directly or indirectly, money or other compensation; or who shall hold himself out to the public as a Chiropractic Doctor, or shall use either the term Chiropractor, Chiropractic, Doctor of Chiropractic, or any derivative of any of the above in connection with his name.
