CONTINUING EDUCATION:
  Requirements: 15 hours per year; 30 hours per 2-year renewal cycle (2 hours per year must be in record-keeping and documentation)  (See Rule 8) 
Distance Credits Allowed: 10 hours (online) per renewal period (See Rule 8)
Program Criteria: Continuing chiropractic education program sponsors need not apply for nor expect to receive prior Board approval for a formal continuing chiropractic education program. The number of creditable hours may be determined by counting the contact hours of instruction and rounding to the nearest quarter hour. The Board relies upon the integrity of the program sponsors to present continuing chiropractic education that constitutes a meritorious learning experience and complies with C.R.S., 12-33-116 and 12-33-111. If during an audit it is discovered that a sponsor has falsified information regarding the course, the sponsor may be required to have all future courses pre-approved. Course content is limited to scientific subject matter basic to the field of the healing arts (contact board for list). Offerings in the promotion of practice building or office management shall not be approved for CE. Instructors must be qualified to teach the course outlined. The licensee must maintain in his/her own file, the date and hours of attendance, synopsis of the course content, and the qualifications of the instructor.  (See Rule 8)

CONDITIONS FOR ENDORSEMENT: Licensed to practice chiropractic in another state/territory, possess credentials and qualifications that are equivalent to this state's requirements for licensure by examination, has been engaged in the full-time practice of chiropractic at least three of the past five years, demonstrated competency as a chiropractor as determined by the board, has not been convicted of a crime and license to practice is in good standing.  (See Statute 12-33-113)

High school diploma, no statutory requirement for undergraduate hours

The Board has the authority to approve a school with CCE equivalency.
  Subjects Examined: Anatomy, including embryology and histology, physiology and psychology, biochemistry, inorganic and organic chemistry, pathology, bacteriology, toxicology, public health, hygiene, sanitation, first aid, diagnosis, pediatrics, dermatology, syphilology, psychiatry, X-ray, obstetrics, gynecology, principles & practice of chiropractic, adjustive techniques, and orthopedics/neurology  (See Statute 12-33-111)

SUMMARY OF SCOPE OF PRACTICE:

Chiropractic means that branch of the Healing Arts which is based on the premise that disease is attributable to the abnormal functioning of the human nervous system. It includes the diagnosing and analyzing of human ailments and seeks the elimination of the abnormal functioning of the human nervous system by the adjustment or manipulation, by hand, of the articulations and adjacent tissue of the human body, particularly the spinal column, and the usage as indicated of procedures which facilitate and make the adjustment or manipulation more effective, and the use of sanitary hygienic, nutritional, and physical remedial measures necessary to such practice. "Chiropractic" does not include colonic irrigation therapy. "Chiropractic" does include the use of venipuncture for diagnostic purposes; and, treatment by acupuncture when performed by an appropriately trained Chiropractor as determined by the Colorado State Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Electrotherapy means the application of any radiant or current energies of high or low frequency, alternating or direct, except surgical cauterization, electrocoagulation, the use of radium in any form, and X-ray therapy, by a trained Doctor of Chiropractic who has fulfilled the educational and licensing requirements of this state board.  (See Rule 7)

Board permits or authorizes travel-to-treat requirements: Yes, with restrictions. Temporary license may be granted to chiropractors who apply and are approved by US Olympic Training Committee only.
Board permits or authorizes telemedicine practices: Yes, provided the D.C. has a chiropractic license and practices in Colorado.
Licensees required to carry malpractice insurance: Professional liability insuranve, $300,000 per claim with an aggregate liability limit for all clainms during the year of $1,000,000 (Refer to 12-33-116.5)
