Exam Dates: Arizona requires the NBCE Part IV Exam; the jurisprudence exam is administered the 1st Friday of each month except for state holidays.
Application/Transcript Deadline: Must be received one month prior to sitting exam (confirm with board) "must be received by" includes application, fees, and all supporting documentation

Optional Certification: Physiotherapy requires 120 hours additional education, passing score on NBCE exam, $100 application fee + $100 certification fee. Acupuncture requires 100 hours additional education, passing score on NBCE’s Acupuncture exam, $100 application fee + $100 certification fee.   
         
CONTINUING EDUCATION: Accepts PACE (if it otherwise complies with AZ law)
  Requirements: 12 hours required per year; subject matter defined in statute
Distance Credits Allowed: 12 50-minute hours
Program Criteria: Courses sponsored by a college or university, all distance learning courses, all courses through non-collegiate providers other than the ACA, ICA, American Red Cross and American Heart Association must obtain prior approval from the Board.  Subjectrs that qualify for CE credit and subjects that do not qualify for CE credits are listed in rule.  Refer to A.A.C. R4-7-801 through R4-7-803 for details.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  Accreditation for Chiropractic Programs/Institutions: Accredited by or has status with CCE or is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the USDE or the council on post-secondary accreditation.
  Subjects Examined: Anatomy, physiology, pathology, bacteriology, symptomatology, diagnosis including physical, clinical, X-ray and laboratory subjects, chiropractic orthopedics, principles of chiropractic and adjusting, neurology, chemistry including biochemistry and nutrition, public health and hygiene, and chiropractic spinal analysis, ethics and Arizona jurisprudence for chiropractors, as taught by accredited chiropractic schools and colleges.

SUMMARY OF SCOPE OF PRACTICE:

A Doctor of Chiropractic is a portal of entry health care provider who engages in the practice of health care which includes:
1. The practice of health care which deals with the diagnosis and correction of subluxations, functional vertebral or articular dysarthrosis or neuromuscular skeletal disorders for the restoration and maintenance of health.
2. The use of physical and clinical examinations, diagnostic X-rays and clinical laboratory procedures that are limited to urine collection, finger pricks, or venipuncture in order to determine the propriety of a regimen of chiropractic care or to form a basis for referral of patients to other licensed health care professionals, or both.
3. Treatment by adjustment of the spine or bodily articulations, including physical medicine modalities and therapeutic procedures; procedures related to the correction of subluxations and neuromuscular skeletal disorders; prescription of orthopedic supports; acupuncture.

Peer Review: No peer review in Arizona
Certified Clinical Chiropractic Assistants: Board registers CAs and supervising DCs, upon application and verification that CA has completed 24 hours of Board approved training. CAs assisting certified DCs with physiotherapy must complete additional 12 hours and in acupuncture must complete 2 hours of Board approved training in each specialty area for registration.
Chiropractors defined as Primary Care Physicians:  Defined as a "Portal of Entry Health Care Provider"
