CCE is recognized by the United States Secretary of Education as the specialized accrediting agency for the Doctor of Chiropractic Degree Program and has been so recognized since 1971. According to the CCE Standards for Chiropractic Programs and Institutions (January 2007), a solitary purpose chiropractic institution accredited as an institution by The Council of the Council on Chiropractic Education must use the following statement when describing its status publicly:
“The institution of (name of institution) is afforded institutional status by The Council of the Council on Chiropractic Education, 8049 N. 85th Way, Scottsdale, Arizona 85268. Tel: 480-443-8877.”
A doctor of chiropractic degree program accredited by The Council must use the following statement when describing its status publicly:
“The doctor of chiropractic degree program of (name of program) is accredited by The Council of the Council on Chiropractic Education, 8049 N. 85th Way, Scottsdale, Arizona 85268. Tel: 480-443-8877.”
There are 18 colleges in the United States that are accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education, a specialty accreditation program recognized by the US Department of Education. Of these, 16 colleges are also accredited as “institutions” by regional accrediting bodies such as North Central and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (or other accrediting bodies recognized by the US Department of Education). These regional bodies accredit the entire institution, allowing the CCE to focus strictly on the chiropractic education program.
Two colleges (Life Chiropractic College-West, Palmer College of Chiropractic-West) have both the overall institution and the chiropractic program accredited by The Council.
